Pre-Shipment Inspection
PSIGoods are finished but not yet loaded. We draw a sample to AQL, open cartons, and check quantity, workmanship, dimensions, function, packing and shipping marks against your spec — then tell you whether it should ship.
Transitive-Trust is an independent third-party inspection service based in China. Twelve years on factory floors across the country’s main production belts — durables, non-durables, components and materials — running pre-shipment inspections, during-production checks, container loading supervision and factory audits for overseas buyers and trading companies. We don’t sell reports — we report what we actually see.
Whether you’re vetting a new supplier or shipping every month, there’s a sensible way to check the goods. Here’s how we’d approach it.
Goods are finished but not yet loaded. We draw a sample to AQL, open cartons, and check quantity, workmanship, dimensions, function, packing and shipping marks against your spec — then tell you whether it should ship.
We come in when the line is 20–40% through. Problems found here can still be corrected; the same problems found at the end are rework, delays and arguments.
We stay for the whole load: carton count, stacking pattern, moisture and impact protection, seal number photographed. The goods can be right and the container still wrong.
Capacity, equipment, incoming and in-process controls, QC staffing, traceability. Enough to judge whether this factory can carry your volume and your standard.
Turning “it should look decent” into clauses that can actually be judged: defect classification, sampling plan, accept/reject criteria — written down so you and the factory argue about facts, not opinions.
Knowing a batch failed is the easy part. We trace the failure to the process that caused it, propose something the factory can actually execute, and check the result on a re-inspection.
You send the product details and the factory address. Everything on site is our job.
Spec sheet, order quantity, factory address, preferred inspection date.
AnytimeWe agree scope, sampling plan and fee, then lock the date.
Within 2 hoursAQL sampling, testing, photographs, defects recorded as they are found.
Usually 1 dayBilingual report with photo evidence and a stated pass/fail rationale.
Same or next dayCorrective recommendations and a re-inspection to compare before and after.
As neededToo many inspection reports say “failed” and leave the buyer with no decision to make. Ours answers three questions: can this ship, what exactly is wrong, and what should change.
Every conclusion maps to a specific clause and to the sampling data behind it. No gut feeling dressed up as judgement.
Each key defect is photographed in place, tagged with carton number and sample sequence, so you and the factory look at the same thing.
Written in English and Chinese so buyer, trading desk and factory work from one document instead of three interpretations.
Judgements brought back from the floor — what keeps recurring, and what can be caught before it costs a container.
Our core team has inspected for twelve years. Eight of those were with an international inspection agency, first as inspectors, then leading teams across the Yangtze and Pearl River Deltas. The service went independent in 2021 and takes only work we can stand behind.
The most common misunderstanding about this job is that the inspector is there to find fault. They aren’t. The job is to show the buyer where the risk sits, and to describe it clearly enough that the factory knows what to fix. A vague report helps nobody.
Our standard: walk the line first, then the warehouse, then open cartons. Write the report the same day, while the details are still exact.
Anywhere in China. Same or next day across East China; other production regions need three working days’ notice for travel.
